The Completion
The Technological Ages

Dear reader from necrotech,

My name is Pool, and I live in the completion age. I am going to take you on a journey through the last turn of the cycle of the ages. Since the pattern of the ages follows its past, you may regard the journey as the future of humankind on earth: all its remaining future from your time on, to the completion. How long a journey it is in linear time as you conceive it I cannot tell you, because my people do not see time as you do, but it is an enormously long time; longer than the time from the evolutionary origins of the human species to where you are. I will tell you in due course who we are, and what we are waiting for as the cycles of human destiny turn.

On our journey you will not be seeing everything that happened, because obviously that would be too much for me to tell in any detail. Nor will you get just a superficial view of the main stages, because that would leave out the real experience. What I shall do is share with you a few episodes from the many journeys that I have taken into the consciousness of actual people, who exist in my past but long before my personal lifetime; again, as you understand the person and the lifetime, which is different from how we understand these things. The episodes are stepping stones through the main plot, which is the story of humanity. The fragments of plot in each episode are glimpses of lives lived: some of which are mini-stories with their own bit of completeness; others, like the one which follows, have no resolution; are little more than a face passed in the street with a life behind it that you scarcely know. The first fragment is part of the life of a woman called Bony Bailey. I experienced it from inside Bony’s skin and her consciousness, by what we call a ‘shift’. I did not travel piggy-back in her mind; I was her, and her alone, but I remembered the experience when I returned, and then wrote it down. Why people of the completion age have been taking such journeys I will tell you in due course.
