Is Capitalism in Decline?
There was also a discussion...

See paper by GB: Is Capitalism in Decline?

CM sent her apologies to the meeting on 14 August, and asked if someone would take notes of the discussion. GB, who led off the discussion sent the following by email:

Hi C[M]

I decided that your job of summarising the meeting is impossible. We agreed instead that each of us will give a summary of what we said. I will provide a running order and my comments. That way you can put it together in the words of the participants.

Order of speakers:

I (GB) introduced the discussion talking around some of the ideas in the paper then:

D[P]

S[E]

D[P]

P[H]

J[T]

M[X]

Ma[X]

M[X]

S[X]

[GB]: (I cannot remember what I said – just leave the contribution(??) out.

J[T]

K[X]

G[X]

D[P]

M[X]

J[T]

K[X]

G[X]

[GB]: I responded to K[X] by arguing that the working class forms itself fighting capital and its power. That struggle is actually structured through the unions and similar bodies. I argued that G[X] was restricting himself to defending old beliefs and that we need to think afresh and get beyond World War I and its aftermath.

10 people were present. B[E] sent apologies. He has again been ill and in hospital, the meeting sent good wishes to him.
